About Dr. Josh Hamilton, APRN
Josh Hamilton is a family psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner with more than 20 years of experience. He has full prescriptive authority in Nevada and has been licensed to practice in several states as well as in British Columbia. He earned his doctorate in nursing from Rush University and bachelor's and master's degrees at the University of Wyoming.
He is nationally certified as a psychiatric-mental health nurse; family nurse practitioner; family psychiatric nurse practitioner and nurse educator. He has been nominated for the AACC David R. Pierce Faculty Technology Award and was recognized as a doctoral scholar by the National League for Nursing. In 2017, he was inducted as a Fellow of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. He is a certified master clinical psychopharmacologist through the Neuroscience Education Institute.
Previously, Dr. Hamilton worked for UNLV, the College of Southern Nevada, Touro University, Wyoming Behavioral Institute, University of Victoria, Casper College and Harmony Healthcare, where he was associate medical director.
In addition to his private practice, he is a contributing professor at Walden University and Adjunct Professor at Roseman University of Health Sciences. He speaks regularly around the country about new advancements in behavioral health and psychiatry.
Dr. Hamilton is interested in neurobiology and epigenetics. His clinical practice and research have been focused on pediatric mental health, producing a model of adolescent insight development. He has studied the impact of culture on the presentation of anxiety disorders in young adult populations and has gained expertise in nursing educational administration, program development and evaluation.
As a nurse practitioner, Dr. Hamilton offers a uniquely effective approach to wellness that focuses on the care as well as the cure.
